Meet Your Teacher

Mrs. Samantha, MM

Samantha Dubois Broom, MM, began her musical journey at 12 years old and has been performing ever since. Ms. Broom is recently known for her collaboration with director Dr. JJ Hudson, performing in the operas, L'elisir d'amore, the title role in Amahl and the Night Visitors, and Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, however she has also been in many musical theater productions prior. Including leading roles such as, Maria in The Sound of Music, Sandy in Grease, Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, Ariel in The Little Mermaid, and more.

 

Ms. Broom has been featured as a soloist in a variety of concerts and recitals from large cantatas performances to solo art song performances. She has also competed and won several awards from voice competitions, including 2nd place in the Regional NATS voice competition, and first runner-up in the MTNA music competition.

 

Ms. Broom has received her Master of Music Degree from the University of South Carolina and her Bachelor's Degree in Voice Performance from Columbus State University's Schwob School of Music. She has been honored to participate in several master classes with world-renowned artists, and opera and vocal study at Si parla, si canta, under the direction of Benton Hess, in Urbania, Italy.

 

It has been a privilege for Ms. Broom to have taught a number of students with a variety of musical background, age, gender, and diversity. She has had students who have gone on to compete in Miss SC, get accepted into college for music, receive music scholarships, and receive leading roles in community productions.

She also has experience teaching as a music director for Stagecraft's productions of
Elf! Jr., Madagascar Jr., Singing in the Rain Jr., Mary Poppins Jr., Wizard of Oz and more. Also through Stagecraft, she taught weekly singing and acting classes. 

Passionate about both music and teaching, she absolutely LOVES her job and looks forward to having new students to begin a musical journey with!

Ms. Hanna

Hanna Ward is a graduate of Anderson University with a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance and Pedagogy and a minor in Theatre. She has earned honors through the National Association of Teachers of Singing Student Auditions. She qualified for the Mid-Atlantic Regional Student Auditions in both Musical Theatre and Classical in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 and qualified for the National Student Auditions in Classical in 2020, in the Hall Johnson category in 2022, and in the Musical Theatre and Spiritual categories in 2023. She was also a finalist in the John Alexander National Vocal Competition in Musical theatre in 2022. 

 

She has participated in Opera Workshop productions, various choirs, and performed with the Jazz Band while at Anderson University. She was also a soloist with the Anderson Symphony Orchestra in 2022. She has also participated in Florence Little Theatre Productions. In the Summer of 2022, she studied with the International Performing Arts Institute in Germany. She continues her vocal studies under Deirdre Welborn, M.M, in Anderson, South Carolina.
